Sammy

Sammy is a highly versatile vocalist with nearly two decades of experience performing live across the UK and internationally. She has been able to adapt her skills as a full-time singer/performer to helping others as a singing teacher. After completing a BA honours in professional musicianship at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music in 2016, accredited through Bath Spa University, Sammy has worked in numerous Primary Schools teaching PPA Music to both key stage one and two pupils, teaching music theory and singing.

She also has experience in Musical Theatre having performed in various production shows at Warner Leisure Hotels and attended Bath Musical Theatre Academy. Sammy can help prepare students for auditions in Musical Theatre using acting through song and to help with their repertoire. Sammy is currently teaching one-to-one sessions online (using Zoom) with students aged 6 and above. She teaches students of all abilities and experience, developing vocals through a variety of techniques including warm-ups and breathing. Sammy can also teach various genres, helping you progress by learning your favourite songs along the way. As a performer herself she can help develop your stage presence by using different performance-based techniques which will help your confidence as well as prepare you for gigs or exams.

“Samantha is a really friendly tutor, my daughter felt very comfortable with her. She loved her structured teaching approach with some warm up exercises followed by some singing of her choice. She explains the theory behind all the warm up exercises and why it is so important. I would highly recommend her.”
– Khushvinder

Sammy says: “I thrive on seeing my students develop in confidence in both vocal style and as a performer. I really encourage students to set and reach their goals. I am a highly enthusiastic teacher and love seeing my students develop, watching them grow from their first lesson with me is a wonderful feeling”

“I know what it’s like to start out from the very beginning, not having any knowledge or vocal training and being able to gain that experience is vital for any performer. I hope I can guide each student on their musical journey, whether they are wanting to do it as a hobby or to help build confidence and take it to the next level of singing professionally. I can meet your very needs so if you do have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me”

Nina

Nina focuses on developing a technique that allows you to sing with freedom of expression. She understands that singing is a vulnerable thing and therefore helps you gain confidence and use your voice to express yourself.

Nina is a skilled singer-songwriter performing on her own and with multiple bands. She also hosts a weekly open mic night at the Swan with Two Necks. The styles she performs and teaches include folk/country, jazz, blues and rock, but she also has a sweet spot for everything avant-garde and she welcomes students from the age of 10 upwards to join singing lessons.

“Nina is a wonderful teacher. Her enthusiasm for singing is contagious. Nina has helped me so much that I'm planning to sing at an open mic night!”
– John

Chrissie

Chrissie’s aim is to guide you in understanding your voice both anatomically and aesthetically in order to encourage the most healthy and efficient techniques and practices.

Through doing so, Chrissie will help improve many aspects of your singing (such as stamina, tone, breath control, pitching, range, agility and power) as well as additional skills (such as performance/microphone technique, improvisation and songwriting).

Chrissie specialises in a number of Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) styles, including soul, pop, R&B and jazz; as well as contemporary musical theatre and acting through song. Taking a holistic approach to teaching, her lessons are underpinned with a sense of “soul”- regardless of genre. By this she means the philosophy of soul, using the art of singing to communicate unapologetic, passionate expressions of who you are, what you believe and how you feel.

“I would not say I’m the ideal student. I’m very nervous, and often show up for lessons unprepared. But I chose Chrissie because I saw in her story a sensitivity that reminded me of my own, and it gave me hope that, with her help, I could use music to reawaken my creative heart.
– Monika Aesta

Chrissie studied Musical Theatre at the BRIT School, receiving a triple Distinction* (star) for her National Diploma. Subsequently, she went on to receive a 1st Class Honours degree in Professional Musicianship from the British & Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM). More recent accolades include performing at Glastonbury Festival, on BBC1 and the UK House of Commons; providing backing/session vocals for artists such as Natalie Weiss and Wasuremono; and writing and releasing music both as a topline writer and as a solo artist.

Chrissie is excited to share her knowledge, experience and passion for singing with others, whether you’re just starting out, or an advanced singer looking to brush up on technique or learn some new skills.
