Sammy

Sammy is a highly versatile vocalist with nearly two decades of experience performing live across the UK and internationally. She has been able to adapt her skills as a full-time singer/performer to helping others as a singing teacher. After completing a BA honours in professional musicianship at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music in 2016, accredited through Bath Spa University, Sammy has worked in numerous Primary Schools teaching PPA Music to both key stage one and two pupils, teaching music theory and singing.

She also has experience in Musical Theatre having performed in various production shows at Warner Leisure Hotels and attended Bath Musical Theatre Academy. Sammy can help prepare students for auditions in Musical Theatre using acting through song and to help with their repertoire. Sammy is currently teaching one-to-one sessions online (using Zoom) with students aged 6 and above. She teaches students of all abilities and experience, developing vocals through a variety of techniques including warm-ups and breathing. Sammy can also teach various genres, helping you progress by learning your favourite songs along the way. As a performer herself she can help develop your stage presence by using different performance-based techniques which will help your confidence as well as prepare you for gigs or exams.

“Samantha is a really friendly tutor, my daughter felt very comfortable with her. She loved her structured teaching approach with some warm up exercises followed by some singing of her choice. She explains the theory behind all the warm up exercises and why it is so important. I would highly recommend her.”
– Khushvinder

Sammy says: “I thrive on seeing my students develop in confidence in both vocal style and as a performer. I really encourage students to set and reach their goals. I am a highly enthusiastic teacher and love seeing my students develop, watching them grow from their first lesson with me is a wonderful feeling”

“I know what it’s like to start out from the very beginning, not having any knowledge or vocal training and being able to gain that experience is vital for any performer. I hope I can guide each student on their musical journey, whether they are wanting to do it as a hobby or to help build confidence and take it to the next level of singing professionally. I can meet your very needs so if you do have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me”

Ola Koziol

Whether you want to prepare for exams and performance or you’re an absolute beginner that wants to start something new, face your fears and challenge yourself or find a space to relax and alleviate stress in a creative way, or to incorporate singing in your personal development, whatever it means to you, Ola can tailor the lessons around your needs.

She finds it vital to acknowledge the holistic nature of the voice. In the physical sense, it’s a group of muscles. The instrument is, in fact, our whole body with all its systems and complexity and it’s very important to understand how it works. Based on that an appropriate training can be applied, ensuring a healthy vocal technique that not only prevents damage of the voice but also helps to obtain the best timbre and extends the voice’s range. she doesn’t limit her lessons only to the technique and expression but also includes elements of music theory and ear training.

“From the first encounter, I’m impressed by the talent and extraordinary personality. Professionalism, enormous vocal knowledge and gift to pass it.”
– Alicja

Sessions are fun and informative, so you can improve in the most efficient and relaxed way. He provides an accepting and enjoyable environment for you to learn to sing and believes the best learning is done when playing. He has been singing ever since he was a child, in a choir, performing in many venues around Bristol like the Hippodrome, Colston Hall, Bristol Cathedral, etc. Continuing to nurture musical skill throughout his life, in his early 20's he co-founded his own pop band that he developed to a high industry standard.

Ola believes that a non-judgmental environment balanced with the teacher’s knowledge, experience, and constructive feedback is crucial for long term development. Learning to sing is a highly complex process and her role is to support the student throughout the course of it. Last but not least, it is your voice after all and if there is an expert on how it works, it is… you. Ola believes that you’ve got all the answers, you just need an appropriate environment and a coach who can help you to discover it within yourself.

Nina

Nina focuses on developing a technique that allows you to sing with freedom of expression. She understands that singing is a vulnerable thing and therefore helps you gain confidence and use your voice to express yourself.

Her classes are fun and informative, with the option to learn stagecraft and music theory but as a default focusing on the projection of the voice, rhythm, and creative interpretation as well as emotional delivery of the song.

Nina is a skilled singer-songwriter performing on her own and with multiple bands. She also hosts a weekly open mic night at the Swan with Two Necks. The styles she performs and teaches include folk/country, jazz, blues and rock, but she also has a sweet spot for everything avant-garde and she welcomes students from the age of 10 upwards to join singing lessons.

“Nina is a wonderful teacher. Her enthusiasm for singing is contagious. Nina has helped me so much that I'm planning to sing at an open mic night!”
– John

Nina started studying the music at just 4 years old. She has grade 9 classical piano and has studied jazz and contemporary vocals A level so has a good understanding of both classical and contemporary singing techniques.

Nina has later trained with a coach working with muscle awareness and releasing muscle tension, and she now focuses on vocal health and singing with freedom.
